Camden Riversharks News Release

CAMDEN, N.J. - Former Major League outfielder Pedro Swann has signed on as a member of the Camden Riversharks coaching staff for the 2015 season, the team announced today. Zach Clark will also be joining the coaching staff as the pitching coach.

Swann, a Delaware native and graduate of Delaware State University, joins new manager Chris Widger's staff after spending two seasons as the head baseball coach for the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks.

Swann brings 17 years of professional playing experience to the team, and played in parts of three seasons with the Atlanta Braves, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Baltimore Orioles, in addition to playing with the Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, and Philadelphia Phillies organizations. Swann hit his first Major League home run off Roger Clemens in 2003 at Camden Yards while playing for the Orioles.

In his 17 seasons playing at the minor league level, including a stint with the Riversharks in 2006, Swann posted a .287 average and garnered 189 career home runs, 964 RBIs, and 1,886 hits. He was named the Most Valuable Player for three different teams during his player career, most recently in 2005 for the Louisville Bats, the AAA-affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.

In two seasons with the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Swann's teams went 21-80, with improving numbers in his second year coaching, as the team lowered their losses by 10 and improved their wins by five. Swann also currently operates Pro Swing Sports Academy in Middletown, DE, and has four years of high school coaching experience under his belt.

In addition to his baseball career, Swann has a film credit to his name, appearing as Juan Vazquez in the 1999 film "For Love of the Game," starring Kevin Costner.

The Riversharks have also named Zach Clark as pitching coach for the 2015 season. Clark will act as both a player and a coach this season. This will be his second season with the Riversharks. In 2014, he started seven games, posting a 2-3 record and a 3.00 ERA. Prior to joining the Riversharks last season, Clark was a member of the Baltimore Orioles organization for eight seasons.

"We are really looking forward to having Pedro and Zach coaching the team this season," said manager Chris Widger. "I feel they bring a lot of experience and knowledge to the table that they can share with the players."

"The new additions to the team and the coaching staff have us really excited for our 15th season," said general manager Lindsay Rosenberg. "We are planning to make this season a really special and memorable time for all of our fans."

The Riversharks home opener is Friday, May 1st, at 7:05pm. Ticket information is available on www.riversharks.com.
