Penn FC News Release

Harrisburg, PA - The 2015 season marks the 12th anniversary of the Harrisburg City Islanders. To celebrate, the City Islanders are unveiling a 12th anniversary commemorative logo. The new logo will represent the success and growth of the club throughout the past 12 seasons and incorporate the theme of the 2015 season: "11 and you" the impact all of our fans, partners and community have as the honorary 12th man for our club, on and off the field.

The design was developed to encompass the iconic Pennsylvania keystone; the Harrisburg Capitol building, which serves as the backdrop to the Skyline Sports Complex, and 12 stars, representing 12 seasons as a club and the 12th man on the field: you.

Club President, Tiago Lopes believes, "The 12th season of franchise history is a big milestone. This will be a season entirely dedicated to our fans. We wanted to do something to acknowledge and praise them for all the support. This season will be themed "11 and you," acknowledging what it takes to accomplish wins and titles is the 12th element on the field; the importance of having the fans, partners and the community in support of our team."

As the USL PRO expands, 24 teams will be split into 12-team Eastern and Western Conferences in 2015, with teams facing each of their conference opponents at least twice during the 28-game regular season schedule. The unprecedented growth includes 8 MLS owned and operated clubs, providing even greater competition for the 2015 season.

"We can not forget that this is no longer the Harrisburg City Islanders against the LA Galaxy. It's Harrisburg against Montreal, Toronto, New York, and Charleston, to name a few. This season we will be fighting against top franchises and top markets in the United States and to succeed we will need our fans and community to come together, with the belief that a city behind a team can achieve the ultimate dream."

As a club the Islanders have shown growth and dominance within the USL PRO. Under Head Coach, Bill Becher, the Islanders have reached three USL PRO Championship finals, winning in 2007 and finishing 2nd in 2011 and 2014. In addition, the Islanders have placed in the playoffs 9 out of 11 years.

Most recently the City Islanders are coming off a successful 2014 campaign where they finished as finalists in the 2014 USL PRO Championship, losing to Sacramento Republic FC (2-0). With a record of 14-12-7 and competing with one of the youngest teams in the league, the City Islanders entered the 2014 USL PRO playoffs as a number 8 seed. They went on to defeat regular season champions, Orlando City in the quarterfinals of the USL PRO playoffs and moved on to defeat number 4 seed, Richmond Kickers, to move on to the championship match in Sacramento.

"We feel honored to celebrate our 12th Season with our fans" Tiago Lopes added, "We hope you all see the importance of supporting a team and a city fighting for a 2015 USL PRO Championship."

The Islanders will kick-off the 2015 season on Saturday, March 28 on the road against keystone rival Pittsburgh Riverhounds. The 2015 home opener will take place Saturday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. (gates open at 5:30 p.m.) at Skyline Sports Complex against FC Montreal for the first time in club history. Tickets will be $7 for youth and $12 for adults.
