Saskatoon, SK - The Calgary Hitmen got goals from five different players to extend their season-high winning streak to eight games with a 5-2 victory over the Saskatoon Blades Sunday night at SaskTel Centre.
Kenton Helgesen and Keegan Kanzig led the way with a goal and an assist each while Adam Tambellini, Micheal Zipp and Terrell Draude also found the back of the net.
Jake Bean recorded an assist to break the franchise record for most points in a season by a rookie defenceman, passing Matt Kinch who had 32 points in the 1996/97 season.
Colby Harmsworth also recorded a milestone, playing his 150th career regular season game with the achievement coming in his hometown of Saskatoon.
Mack Shields made 21 saves to pick up the win as Calgary outshot the Blades 37-23.
The victory moves the Hitmen three points ahead of Red Deer for second place in the WHL's Central Division and to within six points of the front running Medicine Hat Tigers.
Calgary, 31-17-1-4, now returns home for a pair of games this week, hosting Prince George on Wednesday, February 11th and Saskatoon on Friday, February 13th. Both are 7:00 p.m. starts at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
