Miracles Couldn't Weather the Storm

(Moncton, NB) The Moncton Miracles lost their second game in a row this weekend to the Island Storm with a final score of 97-87 in front of 1,513 fans.

The visiting Island Storm came ready to play today after their overtime win over the Miracles last night. They would lead by as many as 9 points in the first quarter and finish holding on to a 27-20 over the hometown Miracles.

Moncton would come up short in the first few minutes of play digging a bigger hole before finding their legs. Troy Brewer would hit a clutch 3 with 4:53 left to play in the second quarter to tie the game up at 42-42. The Storm would pull ahead 52-45 to end the first half of play.

The Miracles would struggle to get anything going in the third quarter and put points on the scoreboard. The visiting Storm would lead by as many as 18 points and finish the third with a 75-62 lead. Moncton would manage to bring the game within 7 points late in the fourth quarter but it would not be enough in the end.

Chris Matthews led the way for the Miracles with 16 points. Troy Brewer added in with 15 and Trayvon Lathan with 13.

Stanley Robinson did not play due to an injury and is day to day.

Nick Evans had a double double for the Storm with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Nick Okorie netted 18, while Mike Martin had 16.

The team hits the road this week against the Halifax Rainmen on February 12th. Catch the game at the viewing party that night at St. Louis Bar & Grill. The Miracles are back at home on Monday, February 16th against the Saint John Mill Rats. Tip-off is 7pm at the Moncton Coliseum.
