Royals Defeat Rebels 6-2 in Victoria

VICTORIA, BC - The Rebels ended their 3-game road trip with a 6-2 loss to the Victoria Royals.

The Royals opened up a 2-0 lead on goals by Tyler Soy and Greg Chase. The Rebels got one back late in the first period, Colton Bobyk scored a power play goal, and it was 2-1 for the Royals after one period.

In the second period, Chaz Reddekopp made it 3-1 for Victoria. The Rebels responded with an Austin Adamson goal, and it was a 3-2 game. But a late shorthanded goal by Brandon Magee gave the Royals a 4-2 lead after two periods.

The Royals added two goals by Tyler Soy in the third period, one a shorthanded/empty net goal and the Royals go on to win 6-2. Soy ended the game with 3 goals and 1 assist. The Rebels finish the season 0-1-1-1 against Victoria.

The final shots were 34-28 for Victoria, Rylan Toth made 28 saves in the Rebels net, Coleman Vollrath made 26 saves in the Royals goal.

Red Deer was 1 for 6 on the power play and killed 5 of 7 shorthanded situations.

The Rebels are back art home on Friday, February 13th when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes.
