Giants with Third Period Comeback; Defeat Rebels 5-4

VANCOUVER, BC - The Rebels 6-game road winning streak came to an end on Friday, as the Giants came back to defeat the Rebels 5-4.

The Rebels held a 2-1 lead after the first period after goals by Brooks Maxwell and Conner Bleackley. Bleackey now has goals in 3 straight games. Vancouver's goal was scored by Jackson Houck.

The Rebels increased their lead to 3-1 when Wyatt Johnson scored in the second period, but the Giants added one of their own, Zane Jones with the goal. It was 3-2 after two periods.

In the third period, the Giants got one from Clayton Kirichenko tie the game at 3. The Rebels took the lead, as Colton Bobyk gave the Rebels a 4-3 advantage. But it was short lived, just 45 seconds later; Alec Baer tied the game at 4. The Giants got the game winner, on the power play, with less than a minute to go in the game; Ty Ronning made it 5-4.

Taz Burman made 31 saves in the Rebels net; Cody Porter had 27 saves for the Giants.

Red Deer was 0 for 1 on the power play; the Giants were 2 for 5.

The Rebels continue the B.C. road trip with a game in Victoria on Saturday night. The broadcast on 106.7 The Drive begins at 7:50PM.
