Prince George Cougars News Release

Prince George, B.C. - With only 19 games remaining in the Prince George Cougars 2014-15 regular season, the push towards the post-season is in full swing. This weekend the Cougars will kick off their February schedule with back-to-back home games against the 2014 Memorial Cup Champions, the Edmonton Oil Kings.

On the ice, the coaching staff and players are hard at work getting ready for a battle with the defending champs. It will be the first time this season that fans will have the chance to see Pittsburgh Penguins goaltending prospect Tristan Jarry and the Oil Kings go up against 2015 NHL Draft Prospects like Jansen Harkins (13GP - 4G - 15A) and Brad Morrison (15GP - 7G - 9A), both of whom averaged more than a point-per-game during the month of January.

In addition to being one of the five "feature games" during the Cougars season, Saturday's game is also "Minor Sports Night." During both intermissions that night, the Cougars will present the first ever "Showboat Shootout Competition." The first six teams to purchase group tickets to Saturday's game can nominate one player from their team to participate in the event. All six nominated players will have the chance to show off their slick shootout moves, and whoever receives the loudest applause from the crowd receives an awesome prize for their entire team! The shootout winner's whole team will receive a private tour of the Prince George Cougars dressing room, as well as a talk from Cougars General Manager, Todd Harkins along with 2015 NHL Draft Prospect, Jansen Harkins.

That's not all. At Saturday's game there will be a sign contest. The fan with the best sign to impress our secret judge(s) will receive a terrific prize. Also a limited edition Prince George Cougars hat will be made available for free to all season ticket holders and game-pack subscribers.

Both games will include: An area for kids to write Valentine cards to their favorite Prince George Cougars player, free programs, hockey bingo, brand new scoreboard video content and live "˜busking' before the games and during intermissions.

"I know there are many great musicians in Prince George and the PG Cougars want to give them the opportunity to perform for our fans before our games and during intermissions," said Prince George Cougars Vice President of Business, Andy Beesley. "It will be a lot of fun for everyone involved, and I know our fans will appreciate hearing some of the excellent talent we have in our City."

Anybody interested in performing their talent at an upcoming game can call: 250-561-0783 and ask for Braydon Ouellet (Manager, Game Operations and Promotions) or they can e-mail him at: braydon.ouellet@pgcougars.com.
