Eighteen Richmond United Players Announce Division I College Commitments

RICHMOND, VA - (Wednesday, February 4, 2015) - On National Signing Day, in which top club soccer players from around the nation make their college choices, the Richmond Kickers and the Richmond Strikers are pleased to announce that 18 Richmond United players have committed to play soccer at 12 different Division 1 universities for the fall 2015 season.

"We are extremely proud of our Class of 2015," commented Leigh Cowlishaw, Richmond Kickers Director of Soccer. "This is a unique group of players as the majority of them have been a part of the Kickers and Strikers programs for many years. All of us feel privileged that we have had a chance to cultivate their talents over the years and wish them much success at the collegiate level."

Ryan Anderson and Brittany Borum will continue their soccer careers at James Madison University with Myles Brown headed to University of Notre Dame and William Zarco to George Mason University. Also staying in Virginia is Taylor Callahan who has committed to Virginia Military Institute and Shelby Kilgore and Taylor Hudgins who will play for Christopher Newport University.

Ann-Robert Goode and Katie Cousins have committed to Davidson College and University of Tennessee, respectively and Olivia Mills will join Darby Moore at the University of Maryland. Meanwhile, Madeline McCracken will head north to Boston College while Berkely Hall travels south to University of North Carolina - Wilmington.

Three players have chosen to play for their hometown Virginia Commonwealth University with Lyndsey Moreland, Brittany Beckwith and Tori Browne representing the Rams this fall, while two players will represent their cross-town rival Spiders as Mackenzie Cox and Bailey Cristian head to the University of Richmond.

Last year, the Richmond Kickers and Richmond Strikers introduced Richmond United, a collaborative program designed to serve the most talented male and female players in the region. The joint venture joined Central Virginia's top two girls and boys programs into a developmental powerhouse that compete on the national stage. Richmond United Boys compete in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy and the Richmond United Girls compete in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL).
