Mustangs Add 2 Before Roster Deadline

February 4, 2015 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Chicago Mustangs News Release

Hoffman Estates, IL- The Chicago Mustangs, proud members of the Major Arena Soccer League (www.MASLSoccer.com), added 2 new players to their roster before the league's official roster deadline.

Chicago signed forward Edgar Martini to the main roster as well as signing midfielder Alex Sangsuwangul, a 24 year-old, to the practice squad with a chance to make the playoff roster.

Martini brings a lot of professional outdoor experience to Chicago and is hoping to take what he knows and mix it in with the already successful Mustangs program. He has experience with Autlan and Merida as well as playing a few seasons with Cruz Azul under his belt. While playing professionally outdoor is quite the accomplishment, Martini's big focus is to take the Mustangs back to the promised land.

"I'm really looking forward to working for the program that won the PASL last season and trying to win the MASL this season," Martini said.

Martini knows a thing or two about winning as his Cruz Azul club took 2nd place in 2008 and 2009 and was a part of the CONCA Tournament Champion team in 2009 as well. He served as a part of some very good teams and believes that he is coming into a very similar situation this time around.

"Everyone has treated me very well and with a lot of professionalism," Martini said. "This is a really skilled team and I'm ready for the challenge."

The other addition, Sangsuwangul, is coming to the Mustangs from FC Indiana where he served as a team captain and appeared to have a genuine connection with the fans. While it will be hard to leave his old club, Sangsuwangul hopes to have the same effect on the fans of Chicago.

"I have waited a long time for an opportunity to display my talents at the highest level possible," Sangsuwangul said. "I hope to leave the Chicago mustangs organization and its' loyal fans with many great memories."

He comes in with big expectations for himself, but also realizes that it is going to be a process and he will have to earn everything he gets...a mentality that is sure to sit well with the rest of the team.

"I come to the Chicago Mustangs organization with great humility because I know I have a lot to learn from a new coach and new system," Sangsuwangul said. " I can learn a lot from this opportunity as a player with a new organization but also as a professional in this league."

Both players look to make an impact with the Mustangs as they fight towards the playoffs during what is sure to be a tough end of the schedule.
