Fargo Force News Release

FARGO, ND - The Fargo Force have picked up forward Jack Jenkins in a trade with the Bloomington Thunder in exchange for forward Mitch Slattery, affiliate goaltender Matt Jurusik and a 3rd round futures pick in the 2015 USHL draft.

Jack Jenkins, a native of Lake Bluff, Illinois, was the leading scorer for Bloomington through 39 games played with 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 total points. He played in Fargo this weekend for the Thunder, putting up 2 assists in Friday's 4-3 win over the Force, which was his fourth straight multi-point game. This is the forward's third year in the USHL, playing from 2012-2014 with the Des Moines Buccaneers. He played in 121 total games with Des Moines, totaling 49 points with 13 goals and 36 assists. He is committed to the University of Notre Dame following his junior hockey career.

"Right now, the last two months of the season are our playoffs. We are in a three way battle for the last playoff spot in the West Division," said associate head coach Byron Pool. "We felt that in order to best position ourselves to make a run we needed to add some additional scoring. When the opportunity arose to add a player of Jack's caliber, we couldn't pass it up. He brings some veteran leadership. He was Bloomington's leading scorer. He brings some grit and energy which are intangibles we are looking for in a player when adding someone for a playoff run. He makes us a better team today."

In exchange for Jenkins, forward Mitch Slattery will be heading to Bloomington to play for the Thunder. Slattery is in his first full season in the USHL and has played in 30 games thus far with Fargo, posting 9 points with 4 goals and 5 assists. The Hugo, MN native is committed to St. Cloud State University.

"Unfortunately, to get a good player you have to give up something good in return," said Pool. "Mitch is a person of high character and has a bright future ahead of him. We expect him to do very well in Bloomington. We would also like to thank him for everything he has done for the Force this season and wish him all the best in Bloomington."

Jenkins is expected to be in the line-up on Friday night when the Force host the Sioux City Musketeers for Frozen Family Fun Night at Scheels Arena at 7:05 PM. He will wear jersey number 14. Tickets are still available at tickets300.com, the Scheels Arena box office or by calling 701.364.3672.
