Wichita Falls Wildcats News Release

WICHITA FALLS, Texas - Following a January that saw him lead all league skaters in scoring, Wichita Falls Wildcats forward Nick Farmer was named the Easton Hockey North American Hockey League Forward of the Month, it was announced Tuesday.

"It is great to see Nick rewarded for his hard work," Wildcats Head Coach John LaFontaine said. "He is one of the most explosive and skilled players you will see at the junior level, and he has worked extremely hard to elevate his play at a time when his team needed him most. We are excited to see what he has in store for the remainder of the year."

Farmer posted points in nine of 11 games in January, and finished the month with 18 points on nine goals and nine assists to lead all NAHL skaters. The veteran opened the month with a two-goal performance against the Amarillo Bulls and never slowed down from there, posting six multi-point outings on the month, including back-to-back three-point performances. The third-year skater also acted as a lynchpin of the Wichita Falls power play last month, notching five goals and four assists on the man advantage to factor into nine of the Wildcats' 14 power-play goals in January.

In addition to earning him league honors, Farmer's stellar month saw him set new high-water marks in multiple offensive categories, including goals (17), assists (22) and points (39). The Spokane, Wash.-native also wrote his name into the team history books on Jan. 23 against the Corpus Christi IceRays when he became just the sixth skater in franchise history to play in 150 career games for Wichita Falls. Farmer capped off his strong month by being selected to represent the South Division at the annual NAHL Top Prospects Tournament in February.

Twice named the South Division's Second Star of the Week in January, Farmer is the second Wichita Falls player to take home monthly honors this season. He joins goaltender Austin Shaw, who was selected as the Goaltender of the Month for September following a strong start to his junior career.

Farmer and the Wildcats are back in action on Feb. 4 when they host the Lone Star Brahmas at the Kay Yeager Coliseum. Puck drop is slated for 7:05 p.m., with four-packs of tickets available for just $24, good for any seat in the arena. Fans that cannot make it to the game may follow all the action on FASTHockey.com, with an audio-only stream provided via YouTube.
