Project Shutout Hunger a Great Success

This season, the Oshawa Generals and the Ontario Hockey Leaguepartnered with Coach 4 Food and Feed the Need in Durham to support Project Shutout Hunger. Thanks to support from fans and minor hockey teams in the Durham Region, thousands of pounds of food were collected and donated to Feed the Need in Durham Region.

This league-wide initiative began at our Thanksgiving game on Monday, Oct. 13 where fans helped raise over 1,000 lbs. of food, and wrapped up at our New Year's Day game when another 400 lbs. of food were donated by our generous and kind fans.

Minor hockey teams in the Durham Region also played an important role in supporting Project Shutout Hunger. Listed below are the minor hockey teams that participated in Project Shutout Hunger, along with the amount of donations they collected. The first, second, and third place teams received special prizes from the Oshawa Generals as a thank you for the hard work they put into supporting Project Shutout Hunger. The Oshawa Minor Generals Novice AAA were awarded a coaching clinic with Generals coaches, DJ Smith and Eric Wellwood for collecting the most donations to support Project Shutout Hunger. First: Oshawa Minor Generals Novice AAA - 1,724.75 lbs. Second: Oshawa Minor Generals Tyke 7 White Team - 1,357 lbs. Third: Whitby Bantam A Blue - 566 lbs. Fourth: Whitby Bantam AAA - 348 lbs. Fifth: Whitby Wildcats Novice AAA - 250 lbs. Sixth: Whitby Bantam A White - 117.15 lbs.

In total, 5684 lbs. of food were collected from food and cash donations combined, generating 4,700 additional meals for Feed the Need in Durham Region. Thank you for helping the Oshawa Generals shutout hunger in the Durham Region!
