Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets split a home double-header weekend for week 16 of 2014-15 earning two points while improving to 29-10-3 and 61 points after 42 games. Fort Wayne enters week 17 tied with Toledo (28-7-5) for first place in the Eastern Conference.

Friday the Komets stumbled 2-1 to the visiting Elmira Jackals in the first of three meetings this season. C.J. Severyn scored the lone goal for Fort Wayne. Goaltender Roman Will suffered his fifth loss of the season making 20 saves on 22 shots.

Saturday at Fort Wayne the Komets rebounded with a 3-2 victory over Toledo to move back into a tie with the Walleye for first place in the Eastern Conference. The Komets erased a two-goal deficit with three unanswered third-period goals and successfully repelled a Toledo five-on-three power play in the final two minutes of the game for the stunning comeback win. Brett Perlini put the Komets on the board at 1:54 of the third frame. Matthew Pistilli scored the game tying goal at 8:00 before notching his fifth game winner of the season at 14:14 on the power play. Will snapped a four-game winless streak stopping 27 shots for his fifth win of the season. It was the 21st one-goal game for the Komets this season (15-3-3).

Streaks -- Reid Petryk had an assist in each game of the week for a three-game assist streak (3a).....Embach has a six-game penalty minute streak (14 pim).....Will has started five straight home games (2-2-1).....Severyn will start week 17 riding a four-game road point and assist streak (1g, 6a)......Shawn Szydlowski also has a road point streak of three games (3g, 2a).

Komet leaders -- Szydlowski and Embach lead with 44 points each.....Szydlowski leads with 21 goals.....Embach leads with 27 assists.....Drew Daniels leads the ECHL with +30.....Cody Sol leads with 86 penalty minutes.

Schrock hits 400 -- Kaleigh Schrock skated his 400th all-time Fort Wayne career game, regular season and playoffs combined, Sunday against the Toledo Walleye.

The week ahead -- The Komets are on the ice for three games in three nights this weekend.

The Komets will travel to Kalamazoo Friday for a 7:30pm faceoff at Wings Stadium. Saturday the Komets return to Fort Wayne to complete a home-and-home series against the Wings at 7:30pm. Kalamazoo (19-16-3, 41 points) holds fourth place in the North Division and trails third-place Cincinnati by a point. The Komets lead the season series 6-3-0 but dropped both games of a home-and-home series against the Wings the last time the teams met. Kalamazoo is 9-1-1 in their last 11 games and 3-1-1 in the last five. The Wings will skate at Cincinnati Wednesday before hosting the Komets Friday.

Sunday the Komets will welcome former Fort Wayne head coach Al Sims and the Evansville IceMen at 5pm. Fort Wayne has won the last two meetings, both on Coliseum ice, and is 5-1-0 against the IceMen after six meetings with three remaining. The IceMen snapped a nine-game winless skid with a 4-1 home win over Gwinnett Friday before falling to the Gladiators 5-3 their last time out Saturday. Evansville is idle this week until they host Indy for a pair of games Friday and Saturday before traveling to Fort Wayne Sunday.

KIDS SEAT FREE Sunday -- The Komets will feature another Kids Seat Free Night when Evansville visits Sunday, courtesy Aunt Millie's, Parkview Health and the Komets. Any child under the age of 12 can see the game for free with a full-priced adult ticket purchase. Don't forget your skates Sunday . Fans are invited to take advantage of a free postgame skate Sunday courtesy Wendy's.

February at a glance -- The Komets will be home for eight out of a dozen games slated for February. Following the upcoming weekend of back-to-back home games Saturday and Sunday, the Komets will be on the road to the Sunshine State the week of Feb. 9 with one game at Florida Wednesday, Feb. 11 and a pair of games at Orlando Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13 and 14. Twice the Komets will host three home games in four nights. Each time will be a Wednesday, Friday and Saturday set, scheduled for the weeks of Feb. 16 and 23 as the Komets cap February with six straight home games.
