Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Andrew O'Brien notched the game-winning goal 1:59 into the overtime frame as the Binghamton Senators fell to the visiting Norfolk Admirals 2-1. The B-Sens find themselves in last place in the East Division following the loss.

Derek Grant opened the scoring 8:49 into the first period with a short-handed goal to give the hosts the 1-0 lead. Grant has nine man-down tallies through his career with Binghamton ranking third all-time. Goaltender Scott Greenham stopped all four scoring chances for the Admirals over the opening 20 minutes to keep the lead heading into the first intermission.

Norfolk managed to tie the score 1-1 with less than five minutes remaining in the second when Emerson Etem surprised Greenham with a slap shot off a Norfolk faceoff win for his 13th of the season.

Following a scoreless third period in which Binghamton outshot Norfolk 12-11, the teams went into overtime.

O'Brien beat Greenham over his glove hand with a rip from the left faceoff circle to give the Admirals the bonus point and sole possession of fourth place in the East Division.

Greenham finished with 29 saves in his first game of action since being recalled from the Evansville IceMen of the East Coast Hockey League.

The B-Sens host the Hershey Bears Friday, February 6, at 7:05p.m. Tickets are available by calling the Binghamton Senators Executive Office at (607) 722-7367 or stopping in between 9:00a.m. and 5:30p.m. Fans can also purchase tickets through the Floyd L.
