Florida Everblades News Release
ESTERO, FL - Evan Bloodoff scored with a 1:25 remaining in regulation to lift the Florida Everblades to a 2-1 victory over the Greenville Road Warriors Friday night at Germain Arena. The win was the fourth straight for the Everblades (29-7-1-3, 62 pts).
For the second consecutive night, the Everblades scored the game's first goal on the power play within the first four minutes. Jason Wilson raced into the zone on the right wing side and wristed a shot past Greenville goaltender Jeff Malcolm.
The Road Warriors tied the game at 11:52 of the period just moments after killing off an Everblades power play. Samuel Noreau picked up the puck at center after exiting the penalty box, and charged in for a breakaway chance. Noreau snapped a shot toward the net that was stopped by Florida netminder Andy Iles. However, the "Blades failed to clear the rebound, and the puck was picked up by Trevor Parkes who delivered it into the net past an outstretched Iles for the tying goal..
The 1-1 score held up for much of regulation, as both Iles and Malcolm dueled one another in goal.
The game seemed destined for overtime, but with 1:25 remaining in regulation, Evan Bloodoff crossed the blue line and delivered a shot toward the net. The puck skipped off the edge of Malcolm's glove and clipped into the net for the eventual game winner.
Bloodoff's sixth goal this season against Greenville secured the 2-1 victory.
Andy Iles was sharp stopping 24 of 25 shots for the win, while Jeff Malcolm takes the loss allowing two goals on 27 shots.
The Everblades will now hit the road for a four-game stretch up North to Elmira and Reading. The first game of the trip will take place at First Arena in Elmira, New York on Wednesday beginning at 7:05 p.m.
