'Tips Cruise Past Giants in Triumphant Return

EVERETT - Linemates Ivan Nikolishin and Patrick Bajkov put up a combined eight points for the Everett Silvertips in 7-1 victory over the Vancouver Giants Friday night at XFINITY Arena. The 'Tips are now 10-3 in the new year after extending their home win-streak to six and remain in first place in the U.S Division.

Patrick Bajkov registered his first career hat trick and added an assist while Ivan Nikolishin (1g/3a) also put up four points on the night. Carson Stadnyk surpassed 50 career goals and 100 career points after notching two goals and an assist. Kevin Davis scored the other goal for Everett and defenseman Noah Juulsen tallied a career high three assists while Matt Fonteyne had two. Goaltender Austin Lotz (21-10-1-1) turned away 28 of 29 shots faced.

Everett got off to a quick start after Patrick Bajkov deflected a Tristen Pfeifer shot in the early minutes of the first to open the scoring. Midway through the period, Bajkov scored his second of the game with a one-timer on the powerplay to double the Silvertips lead. After tallying assists on the first two goals, Ivan Nikolishin scored the 'Tips third goal of the game to put Everett up by three. Zane Jones got Vancouver on the board late in the period to make it a 3-1 game after the first with the Silvertips ahead 10-6 in shots.

The Giants came out strong in the second period and had Everett in their own end for the first few minutes. The 'Tips weathered the storm then came back strong with goals 34 seconds apart to change the tone of the period. Carson Stadnyk knocked in a rebound on the powerplay to give the Silvertips some momentum. Then on the very next shift, Stadnyk fed the puck to Kevin Davis for a tap-in goal in front and suddenly the 'Tips were up by four after 40 minutes of play. Vancouver took a 24-18 edge on the shot clock heading into the dressing rooms.

Everett killed off the Giants first powerplay of the night early in the third and the score remained 5-1 throughout the first half of the period. The hats rained down midway through the frame after Patrick Bajkov scored his third goal of the night to complete the hat trick. Carson Stadnyk continued the offensive outpour with his second goal of the night to put the 'Tips up 7-1 late in the third. The final minutes featured multiple penalties before time expired with the Silvertips holding a 30-29 edge in final shots.

Vancouver goaltender Cody Porter (9-10-1-1) stopped 23 of 30 shots faced in the loss. The 'Tips went 2 for 4 on the powerplay and denied the Giants on all three powerplay attempts.

The Silvertips will play their next two games on the road, heading to Portland on Saturday for a 7:00 pm opening faceoff on Fox Sports 1380 and visiting the Spokane Chiefs on Tuesday. Everett will then return home to entertain the Tri-City Americans on Friday, February 6 at 7:35.
