Stingrays Fall to Solar Bears 4-0

Orlando, FL - The South Carolina Stingrays (18-18-1-6) wrapped up the Florida leg of a four-game road trip Friday night, falling to the Orlando Solar Bears (20-15-3-0) 4-0 at the Amway Center.

Solar Bears forward Jacob Cepis introduced the scoring late in the first period snapping a shot past the right pad of Stingrays goaltender Jeff Jakaitis (L,19 saves on 22 shots) from the left-wing circle.

The Solar Bears added to the lead 9:03 into the second period when forward Stefan Della Rovere completed a 2-on-1 rush with Cepis.

In the third period, the Solar Bears picked up two shorthanded goals to take a 4-0 advantage and preserved netminder Garret Sparks' (W, 40 saves on 40 shots) second shutout of the season. Rookie Brady Vail buried his fourth goal of the campaign at 8:10 and forward Carson McMillan completed the game-scoring at 17:45 with an empty-net marker. The Stingrays finished the game 0-for-4 on the power play while the Solar Bears went 0-for-5.

The Stingrays wrap up a four-game road trip on Saturday, February 7 against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:00 p.m. the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.
