Concord, NC: Saturday in Concord, at the beautiful Cox Mill High School, the Charlotte Elite put on a dazzling display of offense and its trademark pressure defense, beating the Triangle Run N' Gun 138-104 in Tobacco Road Basketball League action. The Elite were led by the hot shooting of Terrone Sheffey II (27,4 & 2), LaMarquis SkyBourne Letchaw (24 & 9) and Curtis 'C-Dub' Withers (21, 7 & 2). While scoring comes easily for the Elite, these guys really took pride in their defense, holding the league leading scorer Milan Prodanovic to 6 points.
The first quarter was nip and tuck with the two exchanging or being tied for the lead several times until the team from Charlotte went up 34-32 to end the first. The Elite never looked back after that, extending the lead to 15 by the end of the first half.
The Elite boasted a balanced, versatile and deep roster of unselfish players, six of whom average more than 15 points. Saturday's win improved the record of the first year team from Charlotte to 5-0 on the season, still the only undefeated team in the TRBL.
The Charlotte Elite are back in action next Saturday at 3:00 PM with the Robeson County Showstoppers coming into town from Lumberton. The Elite beat them in the preseason and the first regular season game at their place so it's sure they'll be amped up to beat the Elite.
