Wild Fend off Brown Bears 6-0

Heading into this three game series against Kenai River, this will be the Wild's last trip to Alaska for the 2014-2015 season, and seeing as this is the case, Wenatchee has put all their cards on the table and they aren't looking back. Playing with great ferocity in the opening match, Wenatchee was able to halt the home team with a 6-0 shut out win. After the conclusion of the game, Kyle Stephan and Mike Coyne were awarded the 1st and 3rd Stars of the Game.
Opening the game with a power play goal, Kyle Stephan netted Wenatchee's first point three minutes and three seconds into the first period with the help he received from Andre Pison and Chris Jones.
With the lone goal of the second period, Stephan put the Wild up 2-0 three minutes and forty nine seconds into middle frame with the assistance of Ryan Gotelaere.
Jake Ahlgren would go on to score the first point of the final period at the seven minute mark. Assists on Wenatchee's third goal of the night came from Brendan Harris and Colin Burston. At 11:14, Burston gave the Wild their fourth goal with the help of Coyne and Mitch Demario. 44 seconds later, Chris Jones put Wenatchee up 5-0 when he was successfully assisted by Coyne and Dakota Raabe. Kyle Stephan scored the last goal of the game, as well as his hat-trick point, at the 13:16 minute mark. Jacob Hamacher and Gotelaere recorded the final assists of the match
After three periods, the Wild ended up out shooting the Brown Bears 37-16 as well a going one for two on the power play. Wenatchee pocketed three infractions and these were called on Jacob Hamacher (Hooking) and Ryan Chiasson (Fighting (Major)) (Fighting (Misconduct)).
Zach Quinn was Wenatchee's netminder for the entire 60 minutes and was able to stop all 16 shots on goal.
Coach Littler states, "All the way around a very good effort. Be a challenge to back up one good effort with another."
Looking to take the series 2-0, the Wild will be back in the Soldotna Sports Center tomorrow, January 30th. Game two has a 7:30 pm AKST start time!
