Omaha Lancers News Release
RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers have teamed up with Rockbrook Animal Clinic and Nebraska Dachshund Rescue to bring fans the first annual Wiener Dog Dash on Saturday, February 21st when the Lancers take on the Fargo Force at 7:05PM inside Ralston Arena. Fans in attendance will have the rare opportunity to see Omaha's finest furry friends race it out on the ice!
Nebraska Dachshund Rescue is a non-profit, 503(c)(3) organization that is 100% volunteer run. The organization was formed in March of 2008. To date, the rescue has rescued, vetted, and secured loving forever homes for over SEVEN HUNDRED DACHSHUNDS. A portion of each entry fee will be donated to NDR to further their mission and help provide them with the tools needed to save even more!
The Wiener Dog Dash, sponsored by Rockbrook Animal Clinic will feature a maximum of 40 pure bred dachshund dogs racing from the goal line to center ice during the first intermission. Each of the two heats will crown a 1st and 2nd place finisher. Those four wiener dogs will face off at the beginning of the 2nd intermission in a winner take all race!
The entry fee for the race will be $35.00 per dog. This includes not only the entrance to the race, but also two tickets to the game, and a prize bag provided by Rockbrook Animal Clinic. Each dog will require 2 people (one to release and one to receive). Children 10 and older will be allowed to be either the releaser or the receiver, but other releaser/receiver MUST BE AN ADULT.
Entries will cease once all 40 spots are filled or on the Friday, March 13th deadline. If you would like to register or to learn more about the event, please visit saveaweenie.com or contact Gavin Utesch in the Omaha Lancers office at 402-934-4732 or gutesch@lancers.com .
"Nebraska Dachshund Rescue is very excited to be partnering with Rockbrook Animal Clinic and The Omaha Lancers for this fun-filled evening!", said Nebraska Dachshund Rescue President, Julie Siebler. "We are thrilled to join the Lancers on the ice and look forward to making this an annual event. We are still signing up racers, so get your entries in as soon as possible. Come and join in on the fun and help Save A Weenie!!!"
