January 28, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Indy Fuel News Release

INDIANAPOLIS - In the first game of a three-game home stand at Indiana Farmers Coliseum, the Indy Fuel battled through adversity and eventually defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators in overtime on Wednesday by a final score of 3-2. With the win, the Fuel's seventh straight victory and eighth in the team's past nine games, Indy improved to 14-21-4-3 overall this season and with 35 points, remain alone in sixth place in the ECHL's North Division standings, just four points out of playoff position.

After a sluggish start, the Gladiators claimed a 1-0 lead late in the first period as Greg Carey was credited with a power-play goal at 18:10 after the Gwinnett winger banked his tenth marker of the season off Fuel defenseman Nick Bruneteau. After the majority of the middle stanza slid by scoreless, Vincent Arseneau leveled the score at 14:49 thanks to a slick, end-wall centering feed from Garett Bembridge at even strength. Bembridge then delivered Indy their first lead at 16:06, as the veteran winger popped a power-play marker past Glads goaltender Kent Patterson to make it 2-1 Fuel.

Indy allowed a late third-period equalizer to Gladiators forward Brenden Walker, but in overtime, the Fuel claimed their second-consecutive extra session victory thanks to a Pete Massar score at 2:20, assisted by Nicklas Lindberg, that extended the Fuel's team-record point streak to nine games.

Indy goaltender Mac Carruth, the reigning CCM ECHL Goaltender of the Week, was sensational in victory, turning aside 31 of the 33 Gwinnett shots he faced en route to his sixth straight victory while Gladiators net-minder Kent Patterson was impressive as well in defeat, turning in a 31 save performance.
