Portland Timbers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - In celebration of the club's fifth year in Major League Soccer and 40th anniversary in Portland, the Portland Timbers today announced that they once again will be offering the opportunity to participate in the popular fan axe photo shoot, originally introduced in 2011 for the team's inaugural MLS season.
The Timbers will be conducting two free photo shoots during two separate weekends on a first-come, first-serve basis, open to the public, at Providence Park. Fans are asked to enter through the Providence Sports Care Center on the southeast corner of the stadium on 18th Ave. The first weekend is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 6 and Saturday, Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. (Pacific).
Times for the second weekend are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. (Pacific) on Saturday, Feb. 14, while the final opportunity for photos will take place on Sunday, Feb. 15, from 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. (Pacific).
Fans who participated in 2011 are encouraged to take their picture again to potentially be featured in team programming celebrating the club's fifth MLS season.
Props will be provided at the photo shoots, but additional items are welcome as long as they are appropriate and adhere to stadium policies . Approximately two weeks from the shoot date, photos will be loaded onto a Flickr album and participants will receive an alert via email when photos are available for download. Fans will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite photo to be featured on a Timbers billboard, which will debut in downtown Portland in early March.

Back by popular demand, the original fan axe photo shoot is modeled after the Timbers' award-winning marketing campaign from the club's inaugural MLS season in 2011 that featured a series of billboard advertisements around the city of various Timbers supporters and citizens of Portland.
