January 28, 2015 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Amarillo Bulls News Release

AMARILLO, TX - A total of five current and former members of the Amarillo Bulls are part of four of the five rosters announced late Tuesday afternoon for the North American Hockey League Top Prospects in Ann Arbor Michigan next month.

Forwards Luke Novak and Will Harrison will play for the South Division coached by Scott Langer of the Topeka RoadRunners and John Lafontaine of the Wichita Falls Wildcats. Novak, who will wear jersey #17, has contributed eight goals and 10 assists for 18 points and 25 games since his arrival from the BCHL several months ago.

Harrison, who will wear jersey No. 20, has 14 goals and 14 assists for 28 points in 29 games since he joined the Bulls from the USHL.

Meantime, defenseman Tristan Rostagno will play for the NAHL Under 18 selects roster. That team is made up of players who have a specific birth year. Rostagno, who is committed to Michigan Tech University, has three goals and six assists for nine points in 35 games.

Former Bulls defenseman Ivan Chukarov (2013-2014) will join Rostagno on the Selects team. In 36 games for the Minnesota Wilderness, Chukarov has nine goals and 20 assists for 29 points in 36 games.

Forward Mitchell Vanderburg (2013-2014) has been selected to play for the North Division team. Since joining the Soo Eagles several months ago, Vanderburg has scored 15 goals and 17 assists for 32 points in 29 games.

The Central Division is led by goaltender Chad Catt of the Aberdeen Wings. The former Bulls goaltender (2012-2013) has played in 21 games this year for the Wings and posted a record of 8-12-0-1 and a 2.72 Goals Against Average of .904.

The NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, presented by Easton, will be held from February 23-24, 2015 at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The number of players each NAHL team is sending to the event, in which four teams from the four NAHL divisions: Central, Midwest, North and South and a special fifth NAHL Selects team, will each play in two game games, was based on each team's winning percentage within their group as of January 18, 2015. Only those NAHL players without an NCAA commitment at the time of selection are eligible to participate in the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, with the exception of those who will be playing on the NAHL Selects team. Each of the teams consists of a 20-man roster (12 forwards, 6 defensemen, 2 goaltenders).

In a very short period of time, the NAHL Top Prospects Tournament has become one of the most highly-scouted events of its kind. Last season, over 180 scouts attended the event, which featured almost every NHL team and NCAA Division I school. Over a third of the players that competed in last year's event ended up with an NCAA Division I opportunity. Combined in 2015 with the NAPHL and the NA3HL Top Prospects Tournaments, it will make for an exciting week of hockey and provides a great opportunity for every scout and coach to get a close look the talent in the three leagues.
