Oshawa Generals News Release
Oshawa, ON - The Oshawa Generals and the Heart and Stroke Foundation (HSF) are teaming up for the third annual Pucks 4 Heart game, taking place Saturday, Feb. 21 at 7:05 p.m. against the Kingston Frontenacs. Pucks 4 Heart is a night dedicated to raising awareness and funds for life-saving research.
Former General and Heart and Stroke ambassador, Brett MacLean will return to the GM Centre to drop the puck at the game. Brett played for the Generals from 2005 to 2008 along with playing professionally in the American Hockey League and National Hockey League. Brett now actively campaigns for the HSF and CPR awareness after experiencing a cardiac emergency that tragically ended his hockey career. Brett says, "I am honoured to have the opportunity to be a part of this special event for the third year in a row. Raising awareness and showing support for this cause is something very important to me, especially after my own personal experience. I look forward to being a part of this event with the Oshawa Generals organization and the fans and city that were such a large part of my life during my junior hockey career."
Players will be sporting commemorative jerseys which will be auctioned off following the game, with all proceeds supporting the HSF. Last year's Pucks 4 Heart event raised over $10,000 and the Generals, in partnership with the HSF, hope to surpass that number this year. Lori Armour, Senior Area Manager at the Heart and Stroke Foundation Durham Region says, "Funds raised from events like Pucks for Heart are vital in supporting life-saving research that helps create more survivors, like former Oshawa General Brett MacLean."
Oshawa Generals President and Governor, Rocco Tullio says, "We are proud as an organization to work with and support a cause dedicated to life-saving heart and stroke research." Individual tickets are being sold through the HSF for the discounted price of $14.75, with a portion of proceeds supporting the HSF.
The Generals and the HSF are currently offering "Heart Packs'. Purchasing these packs will allow you to become an official supporter of the event. With each package purchased $50 goes directly to the HSF. The Heart Pack includes; 20 tickets to the game, name/logo on Oshawa Generals splash page, name/logo on game day lineup, name/logo on Oshawa Generals video board during the game, name/logo on post-event press release, and the ability to donate all or a portion of your tickets to the Heart and Stroke Foundation for distribution to volunteers and survivors.
