Greyhounds' Anthony DeAngelo Named Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Anthony DeAngelo of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds is the Pioneer Energy OHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 25 after recording seven assists in three games.
DeAngelo collected three-straight multi-point games for the Greyhounds who picked up three wins on the road last week to extend their winning-streak to eight games. The third defenceman to claim the award this season, DeAngelo began the week with two assists on Thursday in a 4-3 win over the Barrie Colts. On Friday night in Mississauga, DeAngelo had three assists as part of a 7-5 win over the Steelheads, then finished the week with two assists in a 6-5 shootout win over the Guelph Storm on Sunday. The Greyhounds remain in first place in the OHL's Western Conference standings with a 35-9-0-2 record for 72 points.
DeAngelo, a 19-year-old from Sewell, New Jersey, is playing in his fourth career OHL season. Selected by the Lightning in the first round, 19th overall, at the 2014 NHL Draft, DeAngelo signed an entry-level contract with the club in December. He was a member of Team USA at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship and is currently second in OHL scoring among defencemen with 51 points in 36 games including 13 points in seven games since being acquired by the Greyhounds from the Sarnia Sting earlier this month.

Also considered for the award this week was Detroit Red Wings prospect Tyler Bertuzzi of the Storm who scored four goals and three assists for seven points in three games, and New York Islanders prospect Josh Ho-Sang of the Niagara IceDogs who had three goals and three assists for six points in two games. In goal, Evan Cormier of the Saginaw Spirit posted a 1-1-0-0 record including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .974.
