Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Troy Redmann made a career-high 44 saves in his Alaska Aces debut and Matt Harrington scored the game-winning goal with 6:44 left in regulation, lifting the Aces to a 3-2 victory over the Idaho Steelheads at Sullivan Arena on Sunday.

The Aces snapped a seven-game winless skid on the back of Redmann, who was claimed off waivers from the Colorado Eagles one day prior. Harrington's game winner was his first career ECHL goal, while Chris Francis and Brendan Connolly each scored early in the first period and bagged multi point games.

Francis' rebound goal just 3:11 into the game lifted the Aces to a 1-0 lead and Connolly extended the lead to 2-0 just 27 seconds later, converting a set-up from Ryan Walters and Chris Francis. Connolly walked out from the right boards and beat Olivier Roy with a laser from between the circles for his 13th goal.

David deKastrozza's fourth shorthanded goal of the season (13th overall) brought Idaho back into the game, 2-1 with 3:40 left in the first period when he finished a snap shot under the crossbar on a two-on-one break.

Following a scoreless second period, Colten Beck deflected Drew Baker's centering feed past the blocker of Redmann to level the game, 2-2 at the 5:35 mark of the third period. Idaho continued with a relentless attack, and Redmann made a remarkable saves on Jason Bast and Beck on a diving glove stop, just two minutes later.

The stop set up Harrington's clutch goal. After a face-off win in the offensive zone, Harrington worked the puck in the corner and Bryan Cameron sealed an oncoming Troy Vance, who attempted to clear the zone. Harrington took the puck, followed up a rebound also caught a piece of Cameron, and fired a wrister past Roy from the right circle at 13:16 for the 3-2 lead.

Idaho pulled Roy for a sixth attacker with 1:30 left, but failed to mount a sustained threat in the Aces zone.

Roy took the loss on 31 stops.

NOTES: The Aces scratched Justin Johnson, Ryan Tesink, Colten Hayes, Corey Syvret, Dustin Molle, Justin Breton and Tim Coffman ... Connolly has 13 points in 11 games against Idaho this season ...
