SACRAMENTO, Calif. (January 23, 2015) - Sacramento Republic FC reached an agreement with forward Thomas Stewart on a two-year contract extension with a club-option in 2017.
"I am delighted to be extending my contract," says Republic FC forward Thomas Stewart. "I am looking forward to more success. These are exciting times for everyone involved with Sacramento Republic FC."
Republic FC had previously exercised an option to extend Stewart's contract through the 2015 season. Stewart led Republic FC with 11 USL PRO regular season goals in the club's inaugural season. He recorded the club's first hat trick on August 17, 2014, when he scored three goals in just 22 minutes as a substitute in a 6-1 victory over Orange County Blues FC. Stewart also recorded the final goal of the 2014 season, when he scored in stoppage time of the 2014 USL PRO Championship match on September 27, 2014, to put Republic FC ahead 2-0.
Prior to joining Republic FC, Stewart played for Shamrock Rovers FC of the League of Ireland Premier Division, where he appeared in 74 matches over three years and scored 21 goals. Stewart also played on Northern Ireland's youth national teams, including 19 matches for the U-21 team.
