Kansas City Comets News Release

MONTERREY, Mexico (January 22, 2015) - The Missouri Comets (13-0) will play twice in a weekend for the second time this season as they visit Southern Division folks Saltillo Rancho Seco (1-10) and Monterrey Flash (14-1) on Friday and Sunday respectively with their sights set on securing a playoff berth.

Head coach Vlatko Andonovski's team could return to Kansas City having clinched the division in case of winning both matches in Mexico. However, the task won't be easy as they visit the outdoor Deportivo RSS and the world-class Arena Monterrey.

Having missed last Friday's match against the St. Louis Ambush, where the Comets earned their thirteenth consecutive win with a 7-5 victory, goalkeeper Danny Waltman along with Ramone Palmer and Max Touloute have fully recovered from their injuries and are expected to return to the field.

On Friday, the Comets will drive two hours west of Monterrey to face Saltillo who won their first match of the season earlier this month when they defeated the Dallas Sidekicks 7-6. However, the team coached by Elizandro Campos is coming from a devastating 15-0 loss at the Arena Monterrey.

Forward Rafael Raygoza Medrano with 12 points, eight goals and four assists leads Saltillo. On the other hand, forward Leo Gibson leads the Major Arena Soccer League with 52 points totaling 26 goals and 26 assists.

Two days later, the Central Division leaders will return to Monterrey and face the Southern Division leaders on Sunday. Head coach Genoni Martinez team's only loss dates back to December 21, when the Las Vegas Legends snatched an 8-6 victory from the Flash.

Lourenço Andrade leads the Flash with a total of 33 points coming from 24 goals and nine assists.

However, the team's most experienced player is Guillermo Franco who played the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa with Mexico and played in the Spanish La Liga for Villarreal, the English Premier League with West Ham and the MLS with Chicago Fire. So far, "El Guille" has 18 points recording 12 goals and six assists.

Following this weekend's matches, the Comets will have five regular season matches left, three at home and two on the road.
