Plymouth Whalers Snatch Victory from Jaws of Defeat, Rebound to Beat Saginaw , 3-2

PLYMOUTH - Victor Crus Rydberg's second goal of the game at 6:52 of the third period snapped a 2-2 tie and the Plymouth Whalers rebounded from a 2-0 third period deficit to defeat the Saginaw Spirit, 3-2, in an Ontario Hockey League played Monday afternoon at Compuware Arena.

Besides Crus Rydberg's pair (6-7), Mathew Campagna (14) also scored for Plymouth.

The Whalers - now 15-24-2-1 - are slowly getting back into the playoff picture. Plymouth is now seven points behind Saginaw (now 19-22-1-1) for the final playoff spot in the OHL's Western Conference.

Earlier, Vladislav Kodola (4) and Artem Artemov (10) scored for Saginaw, with Artemov's goal coming at 1:04 of the third period to give the Spirit a 2-0 lead.

But the Whalers replied on Crus Rydberg's goal at 3:47, Campagna's equalizer at 5:07 and Crus Rydberg's game winner at 6:52.

Plymouth outshot Saginaw, 36-30 and 20-10 in the third period.

The Whalers play in Niagara on Friday (7 pm, 88.1FM WSDP) and return home Saturday to host Guelph at 7:05 pm at Compuware Arena (7 pm, CN-900, 88.1FM WSDP).
