Detroit Reassigns Frk to Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Sunday reassigned right wing Martin Frk from the ECHL's Toledo Walleye to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Frk, 21, has scored one goal in eight contests with Grand Rapids this season. Detroit's first choice (49th overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Frk has spent a majority of this season with Toledo, where the forward ties for fifth on the team in scoring with 26 points (14-12 - 26) in 19 games. A native of Pelhrimov, Czech Republic, Frk earned 12 points (3-9 - 12) in 50 games with the Griffins and 13 points (5-8 - 13) in 15 games with the Walleye last season.

Prior to turning pro, Frk spent three seasons with the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL, where he registered 163 points (73-90 - 163) in 152 games with the club. In the 2012-13 season, he produced 84 points (35-49 - 84) in 56 regular season games for the Mooseheads en route to capturing the QMJHL's President Cup and the CHL Memorial Cup.

The Griffins will kick off a three-game week at home with a tilt against Midwest Division rival Chicago Wolves on Wednesday at Van Andel Arena at 7 p.m.
