Minnesota Assigns F Curt Gogol to Alaska from Iowa

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces, three-time Kelly Cup champions, announced today that the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League have assigned left winger Curt Gogol to the Aces from the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League.

Gogol, 23, arrives with 172 career games of experience in the AHL with Worcester and Iowa and has collected 25 points and 633 career penalty minutes. This season, Gogol has a goal and two assists, along with 123 penalty minutes in 25 games with Iowa.

The 6-foot-1, 191-pound forward earned a career-high 10 points (6g-4a) and 167 penalty minutes with Worcester as a rookie in 2010-11. Gogol previously skated in 169 career junior games in the Western Hockey League with Kelowna, Saskatoon and Chilliwack and registered 26 points (7g-19a) and 494 penalty minutes.

Gogol was a part of Kelowna's squad that captured the WHL championship and advanced to the 2009 Memorial Cup tournament. He suited up in 22 postseason games for the Rockets, earning a goal.

Gogol was originally signed by the San Jose Sharks to an entry-level contract on Sept. 21, 2010 and was acquired by Minnesota from San Jose, in exchange for center Chad Rau, on Feb. 5, 2014.

The Aces return to play following the All-Star break on Friday, Jan. 23 to begin a nine-game homestand against the Idaho Steelheads at 7:15 p.m. (GCI/KFQD) at Sullivan Arena.

The Aces are the official ECHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League.
