Giants Lose 1-0 in Kamloops

January 18, 2015 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Vancouver Giants News Release

Connor Ingram stopped all 36 shots he faced to lead the Kamloops Blazers to a 1-0 shutout win over the Vancouver Giants at Interior Savings Centre on Saturday night. The loss was the third in a row for the Giants and the second consecutive game that the G-Men have failed to find the back of the net.

Jackson Houck and Tyler Benson both had good chances to put Vancouver on the board in the first half of the game. Houck was robbed by Ingram's right pad on a backdoor chance at the side of the goal before Benson was denied by the glove of Ingram on a great opportunity on a power play in the second period.

Matt Needham scored the game's only goal at 16:33 of the middle frame when he wired a wrist shot past the glove of Giants goalie Payton Lee on a three-on-two rush. The Giants went on to out shoot the Blazers 16-8 in the third period and 36-27 in the game, but Ingram turned aside everything he faced for his second shutout of the season.

The Giants will be back in action on Tuesday in Cranbrook against the Kootenay Ice. Catch the action on TSN 1410 radio beginning with the pre-game show at 5:00pm, followed by the face-off by 6:00pm. Vancouver's next home game will be on Saturday, January 31st when the Blazers visit the Pacific Coliseum. For tickets, visit VancouverGiants.com or call 604-4-GIANTS (604-444-2687).
