Red Deer, AB- The Victoria Royals were backstopped to a 2-1 shootout victory over the Red Deer Rebels by goaltender Coleman Vollrath who turned away 34 of 35 shots and stopped all seven shootout attempts in the win.

Victoria forward Austin Carroll notched the shootout winner in the seventh round. The Royals' Greg Chase scored 57 seconds into the first period to give Victoria the early lead. Maxwell Brooks would tally the lone marker for Red Deer.

Vollrath's start marked his 100th regular season game in the WHL . Rebels' netminder Rylan Toth stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced.

The Royals went 0/600.0% with the man advantage, while the Rebels went 0/40.00%.

Victoria will continue their three game road trip tomorrow when they face-off against the Calgary Hitmen. The Royals will then head to Edmonton to take on the Oil Kings on Sunday. Start time for the Calgary game is slated for 6:00 p.m., while Sunday's contest begins at 3:00 p.m. All times in Pacific Standard Time.
