Orangeville A's News Release

MISSISSAUGA, ON. - The Brampton A's took on its Peel Rivals, Mississauga Power, for the sixth time this season. In a battle that featured a stretch of alternating leads, the A's trumped the Power 101-90 on the road. Brampton now moves to 11-10 on the season, and leads the season series against the Mississauga 4-2.

Brampton started the game strong as they were able to gain a comfortable nine point lead midway through the first half. Demonstrated in games prior, Mississauga picked up its offensive rhythm as the stint progressed to challenge the A's by keeping the deficit narrow. Both teams ended the half equally matched with a score of 51 and 40 percent field goal shooting percentage.

Akeem Ellis led the A's at halftime with nine points and six rebounds. On the other end, the Power were led by Chad Posthumus who had 13 points and six rebounds.

In the third quarter, the teams traded leads by an average of two points, suggesting that it was anybody's game. After hitting key shots in the paint and converting at the Free Throw line, the A's ran away with the game midway through the final minutes. Despite being out rebounded by the Power, the A's were defensively sound as they held their opponent to shooting under 40 percent from the field.

Cavell Johnson finished strong for Brampton with a final showing of 18 points and eight rebounds. Ellis recorded a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Posthumus concluded the game with 19 points for the Power.

The A's will have a few days off before taking on the Lightning in London on Sunday, January 25th at 2 pm. A live stream of the action will be available via www.bramptonas.ca. The A's will return home to the Powerade Centre on Thursday, January 29th to host the Island Storm.
