John Rey Bobblehead this Weekend

AMARILLO, TX - There have been many major accomplishments by the Amarillo Bulls' players during the team's five year history.

One player who has certainly etched himself in not only Bulls but Amarillo Hockey History is defenseman John Rey. The Turnersville NJ native scored the Bulls very first regular season goal and captained the team to a Robertson Cup National Championship.

Now, John Rey becomes the first Amarillo Bulls' player to be depicted on a bobblehead. On Friday night, those figurines will be certainly snapped up quickly by fans when the Bulls host the Odessa Jackalopes at 7 pm at the Budweiser Bull Pen in the Amarillo Civic Center. The first 500 fans will be able to get their hands on one of those bobbleheads.

Rey came from humble beginning as a virtual walk-on trying out for the team at one of the camps. He made the team, and in their very first game at the North American Hockey League Showcase, Rey scored the team's first ever regular season goal.

In his second year, Rey came back even stronger and quickly rose as one of the top players. He was recognized for his efforts with the Best Defenseman Award by the North American Hockey League. He was also chosen All-NAHL first team and NAHL all South Division Team.

Rey seemed to save the best for last in 2012-2013 by first securing his NCAA College Commitment to Robert Morris University. He later would lead the Bulls on a magical run cumulating with the team winning the Robertson Cup National Championship in May of 2013. That season he was also selected to the all South Division team.

Now Rey continues his success at the NCAA level with the Colonials. In his Sophomore season, Robert Morris advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four. In 58 NCAA games, Rey has notched two goals and 19 assists for 21 points.

Tickets for Friday's and Saturday's games are now available at the Amarillo Bulls Office located at 301 South Polk or by calling 242-1122. Fans should inquire about the $5 section. Those who purchase their tickets at the Bulls Office will be able to receive a Free Kids Meal. Additional tickets are available at Civic Center Box Office or all Panhandle Ticket Outlets including United Supermarkets or online at www.panhandletickets.com.
