Who Will be Selected by the Colorado Rapids in SuperDraft?
January 14, 2015 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Colorado Rapids News Release
The 2015 MLS Superdraft is nearly upon us.
It is one of the most important days in the league's calendar and, as ever, the Colorado Rapids are looking to add key players to their roster.
Last year, Rapids selected Marlon Hairston (12th pick overall), Grant Van De Casteele (19th), Jared Watts (33rd) and John Berner (35th) in the SuperDraft.
In 2013, they picked up Deshorn Brown (6th pick) and Dillon Powers (11th). Powers was named MLS Rookie of the Year, with Brown claiming the runners-up spot.
This year's event starts in Philadelphia at 10.30am MT on Thursday. With the first two rounds taking place in the Pennsylvania Convention Center and the latter two held via conference call five days later.
There can be late trading of draft places, of course. However, on the eve of the event, Rapids were set to take the 19th and 26th picks in the first two rounds.
Newly-appointed Sporting Director Pádraig Smith will join Head Coach Pablo Mastreoni and Paul Bravo, Vice President of Soccer Operations and Technical Director, on the Rapids table. Assistant coaches Steve Cooke and Chris Sharpe will also be present.
Expansion teams Orlando City SC and New York City FC kick off the event with picks one and two respectively.
It is guaranteed to be a dramatic day.
ColoradoRapids.com will carry a live stream of the event and, afterwards, post video interviews with our new players.
