Island Storm News Release

(Charlottetown, PE) STORM point guard Sammy Zeglinski is off the team's Injured Reserve list and has been activated to play this Thursday evening at Eastlink Centre when the Island STORM host Atlantic Division rival the Halifax Rainmen at 7pm.

Zeglinski went down with an injury during a game against the Saint John Mill Rats on November 30th and hasn't played since. At the time of his injury the starting point guard was averaging nearly 12.5 points per game, 7 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and had 10 steals. Zeglinski was shooting 47% from 2 point range, 37% from behind the arc, and 84% from the foul line while playing almost 34 minutes a game.

While Zeglinski will be eased into the lineup, STORM Head Coach Salerno is pleased to have him back. "We will take our time working Sammy back into the rotation," says Salerno. "This has been a lengthy rehab for him, but he has shown great patience and determination to get back on the court. He will be a vital for us in the postseason, so we want to make sure he is 100% and not rush things. Our training staff of Ralph Manning and Laura McCloskey has done an incredible job working with Sam and getting him back to playing shape. Sammy will be a vital piece to our playoff run and we are happy to have him back."

Meanwhile the Storm have place Power Forward Mike Williams on the Injured Reserve list after suffering a lower body injury in the Storm's 103-100 win in Saint John on January 8th. He is expected to be out 2-4 weeks.

The STORM play back to back home games this week with the Rainmen in Thursday while on Friday night it's a rematch of last year's thrilling NBL Canada Finals when the Windsor Express make their only regular season visit to Eastlink Centre. The Express lead the Central Division of the NBL with a 13-4 record while the STORM have the same number of wins at 13-6 and lead the Atlantic Division. Friday night's matchup between the STORM and Express will be the game of the year in the league so far this season."‹"‹
