Sound Tigers Sign Lashoff

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today that defenseman Matt Lashoff has been signed to an American Hockey League contract.

Lashoff, 28, spent the first half of the year with Novokuznetsk Metallurg of the Kontinental Hockey League, where he had two assists in 23 games. He has spent the past two and a half years in European leagues, playing in Russia, Sweden and Switzerland.

The East Greenbush, N.Y., native has 74 games of National Hockey League experience, appearing for the Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning and the Toronto Maple Leafs. He has also suited up for the Providence Bruins, Norfolk Admirals and the Toronto Marlies of the AHL.

Boston selected Lashoff in the first round (22 nd overall) of the 2005 NHL Draft. He is the older brother of Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brian Lashoff.
