Reign FC to Open 2015 Season at Home on April 12

SEATTLE (January 12, 2015) - Seattle Reign FC will kick off the team's highly anticipated third season at 4 p.m. PST on Sunday, April 12 on the Moda Pitch at Memorial Stadium against Abby Wambach and the Western New York Flash.

The match will mark the seventh time that Reign FC have faced Western New York in the NWSL regular season and the first time the clubs will face each other in the opening game of the season. Reign FC went 2-0-1 against WNY last season and has an all-time record of 3-1-2 against the club.

Reign FC is 1-0-1 all-time in NWSL regular season openers, including a 3-0 home win over the Boston Breakers in 2014. Reign FC managed a 1-1 draw on the road against the Chicago Red Stars in the 2013 opener.

In 2014, Reign FC went 8-0-4 on the Moda Pitch at Memorial Stadium during the regular season, including the 2014 comeback win against the Washington Spirit in the semifinal round of the NWSL playoffs. Reign FC is unbeaten in 13 matches on the Moda Pitch at Memorial Stadium.

On the opening weekend in the NWSL, six of the nine clubs in the league will begin their respective campaigns, starting on Friday, April 10 with Houston Dash taking on the Washington Spirit, and continuing on Saturday, April 11 with Portland Thorns FC against Boston Breakers.

As with each NWSL team, Reign FC will play 20 NWSL regular season matches during the 2015 season, with 10 at home and 10 on the road. Full times, opponents, and broadcast information for these games will be announced at a later date.

The NWSL will take a brief 12 day break during the group stages of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada.

The 2015 regular season will then culminate in the middle of September and be followed by the playoffs, including two semifinal matches on the weekend of September 12-13 with the championship match scheduled on the weekend of September 26-27 to avoid potential FIFA dates.
