Ottawa 67's News Release

Rookie Travis Barron scored a pair as did veteran Sam Studnicka as the Ottawa 67's won for the second consecutive night on Friday, downing the Windsor Spitfires 8-4 in front of 3,295 fans at TD Place.

The win improved Ottawa's home record to 13-3-1-0, giving this year's edition of the 67's one more home-ice victory than the entire previous season.

Ottawa exploded with four consecutive goals in the span of eight minutes in the middle period to break a 2-2 knot; Barron getting two of those goals with the others from rookie Ben Fanjoy and captain Travis Konecny.

Konecny's goal came on a penalty shot after he was tripped on a breakaway while the 67's were killing a penalty.

Russian rookie Leo Lazarev stopped 43 shots to earn his second victory in as many nights, after making 33 saves in a 3-2 win in Peterborough on Thursday.

Fans of the 67's had an opportunity to see plenty of new faces in the Ottawa line-up. Defenceman Mike Vlajkov played for the first time on home ice since September of 2013, while newly-acquired Curtis Meighan, Adam Craievich and Brandon Lukezic all had a chance to play in front of a home Ottawa crowd for the first time, as did Junior C call-up David Pearce, a sixth-round pick by the 67's in the 2014 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection.

Vlajkov left the game late in the third, send off for a slew-footing match penalty.

The 67's are back at TD Place on Sunday at 2 p.m. against the Kingston Frontenacs.
