Springfield Falcons News Release

Providence, R.I?. - The Springfield Falcons rallied past the Providence Bruins, 2-1, tonight at the Dunkin' Donuts Center

The victory kicks-off the Falcons' seventh three-in-three of the season and advances the team to 25-10-2-0. Springfield also maintains control of the Northeast Division and moves up to share the lead of the Eastern Conference with 52 points. Additionally, the Falcons take a 4-1-0-0 lead in the 10-game season series with the Bruins. The loss drops the Bruins to 17-15-3-1 on the season.

Falcons goaltender Anton Forsberg stopped 29 of 30 shots on goal, while Bruins goaltender Jeremy Smith turned away 31 of 33. Springfield was able to convert on one of three power play opportunities. The penalty kill unit shut down all three Providence man-advantages.

The Bruins opened scoring at the 11:33 mark of the first period and carried their lead into the first intermission. The Bruins forced a turned over in the Falcons zone and created a scoring opportunity. Chris Casto started the play and passed the puck down to Justin Florek in the left wing circle. A cross-slot pass set up Matt Lindblad for a one-timer to put the Bruins on the board.

The Falcons evened the score just after the halfway mark of the second period. Smith made a save on a Michael Chaput shot, but left the rebound out for Marko Dano to poke into the goal. Frederic St. Denis picked up a point for the secondary assist.

With 2:32 remaining in the middle frame, the Falcons took over the lead while on the power play. Adam Cracknell netted his first goal with the Falcons since being reassigned by the Blue Jackets on Jan. 6. Luke Adam and Kerby Rychel earned credit for assisting on the veteran's tally.

An even third period sealed a 2-1 victory for Springfield.

The Falcons return to the MassMutual Center on Jan. 10 to host the Hartford Wolf Pack at 7 p.m.
