Siena Student's Class Project Wins Generous Donation to LaSalle School From Albany Devils

Albany Devils News Release
When a good deed brings about another good deed - ten-fold! - everyone comes out a winner. Such was the case for Meghan Deguire, a junior Marketing major at Siena College, when she used a Sales Management class project as an opportunity to benefit the students at LaSalle School in Albany.
Working on an Albany Devil's internship to promote the team's College Night, Meghan developed a unique marketing tactic. She targeted her sales effort to a philanthropic audience, recognizing not everyone is a hockey fan. She suggested potential ticket buyers could donate their purchased tickets to LaSalle School, a residential treatment facility for adolescents, so the students could have an evening of recreation. The tactic earned 10 LaSalle students an outing in November to the Albany Devil's game and played a role further role in Deguire's team winning the class sales competition.
Meghan's familiarity with LaSalle School and the value of service they provide is close to her heart. Her father has worked at LaSalle School for 29 years. Tom Deguire, School Supervisor at LaSalle, has made his daughter well aware of the many challenges LaSalle students face when living away from their families and the profound impact that generosity can have.
Upon presenting her concept to the Albany Devils CEO Christopher Ciceri as part of the project's final in-class presentation, Ciceri was impressed by the unique concept and generously moved to up the ante. Today, Ciceri and his colleague Meg Emery, who worked with Siena students on the internship program, donated 100 tickets to LaSalle School staff and students for the January 24 home game against Worcester. The Devils' team members will also be visiting LaSalle School campus at a future date.
