Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen Hockey Club today announced they have acquired a fourth round pick in the 2015 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft from the Edmonton Oil Kings in exchange for 19-year-old defenceman Marshall Donald.
"We would like to thank Marshall for his time in Calgary," said Hitmen General Manager and Vice President of Business Operations Mike Moore. "This trade gives Marshall the opportunity to play in his home city and at the same time opens up additional playing time for several of our young defencemen who have shown great progress this season."
Calgary, 22-15-1-3, returns to action Saturday night in Lethbridge where they will round out their five-game road trip against the Hurricanes.
The next Hitmen home game is Sunday, January 11th against the Brandon Wheat Kings. It's a rare 1:00 p.m. start at Scotiabank Saddledome. Fans are encouraged to bring their helmet and skates to participate in the annual Dodge Skate with the Hitmen and join the players for a family-friendly post-game skate. All participants 18 and under are required to wear a helmet.
A special pre-game ceremony will be held to recognize the efforts of three Hitmen players on the international stage. Jake Virtanen will be honoured for his gold medal performance with Team Canada at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship. Beck Malenstyn and Jake Bean will also be recognized for their efforts at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
Following the game fans will be able to meet and congratulate Virtanen during a post-game autograph session on the concourse.
