Richmond Kickers News Release

RICHMOND, VA - (Friday, January 9, 2015) - The Richmond Kickers are pleased to announce that the club's all-time leading scorer, Matthew Delicâte, will return for the 2015 season.

A four-time USL PRO All-League First Team honoree, Delicâte was a USL PRO MVP Finalist last season. Following a month-long injury, he immediately picked up where he left off, scoring the game-winning goal with his first touch of the night in the 117th minute against Charleston in the Quarterfinals to send the Kickers through to the Semifinals. Posting a career-high 16 goals through all competitions in 2014, he surpassed the century mark in career goals in June.

Consistently one of the top goal scorers in the league since his professional debut in 2004, Delicâte eclipsed the franchise's all-time scoring record in 2012, amassing 87 goals and 20 assists in 208 appearances over eight seasons in Richmond. Spending the 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons with the Rochester Rhinos, the native of Kent, England returned to Richmond in 2009 and led the club to back-to-back Championship appearances.

The 2003 CAA Player of the Year, Delicâte holds the career record at Virginia Commonwealth University with 44 goals and 13 assists and is the first player to reach the century mark in career points (101).
