Saint John Riptide News Release

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats fought tooth and nail to claw back to a 100-100 tie with 23 seconds remaining, but Island Storm forward Brandon Robinson drilled a deep contested three pointer with 1.7 seconds for the win.

"The effort was there and we showed alot of resilency," said Mill Rats Head Coach Julian King, "but give them credit, they are well coached and are tops in our division for a reason."

Tyrone Levett's half court shot to beat the halftime buzzer drew Saint John within 50-49 at the half. The Mill Rats erased an 8 point deficit to claim an 84-80 lead midway through the fourth quarter, but a fouls and offensive rebounds by the Storm prevented them from being put away. Jeremy Williams nailed four free throws to tie it at 100-all, the last two with 23 seconds left, setting up Robinson's final shot. A desperation attempt by Johnny Mayhane rimmed out at the buzzer.

Williams led Saint John with 29 points, Johnny Mayhane 17, Anthony Anderson 13, Tyrone Levett 12. Robinson led the Island Storm with 28.

The Mill Rats fall to 7-12 on the season while the Island Storm improve to 12-6. Saint John heads to Ontario for road games this weekend against the Windsor Express and the London Lightning.
