EUGENE, OR - The Eugene Emeralds, a Class A short-season affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, and the Columbus Clippers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, are excited to announce a friendly wager on the upcoming College Football National Championship game between the University of Oregon Ducks and The Ohio State Buckeyes. The "Pass a Cold One" wager will benefit the team's local chapter of Special Olympics.

The losing team will participate in their cities upcoming Polar Bear Plunge event. So when the Ducks win on Monday, January 12, the Clippers staff, while wearing a mixture of University of Oregon and Emeralds gear, will participate in the Columbus Polar Plunge on February 21 at the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium. If, somehow, the Ducks lose the Emeralds staff, while wearing a mixture of Ohio State and Clippers gear, would participate in the Polar Plunge Eugene on February 7 at Maurie Jacobs Park. The event will be documented on the team's social media accounts.

"We are so excited that the Eugene Emeralds have taken on this challenge for the Polar Plunge," said Brian Boys, Polar Plunge Media Relations for Polar Plunge Eugene. "Every day Special Olympics Oregon demonstrates the positive impact sports can have in the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities. And we're thrilled that our local baseball team is joining us in supporting our biggest fundraiser. Go Ducks! And go Ems!"

"We at the Emeralds have the upmost confidence in our Ducks, and had no issues placing this bet," said Allan Benavides, General Manager for the Emeralds. "We look forward to having our Emeralds gear take a little dip."
