January 8, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Oklahoma City Barons News Release

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Barons program called "Barons Buddies" continues with the team's annual bowling event this Wednesday, January 14 at Dustbowl in Midtown at 421 NW 10th Street from 6 - 9 p.m.

The Barons Buddies program allows a family involved with Special Olympics Oklahoma to be "adopted" by a player on the Barons roster. The team hosts a series of events during the season that brings the families and players together for a fun night with their adopted player. The bowling event has become an annual tradition and allows the players and athletes the opportunity to bond outside of the hockey rink.

The third of four events sees the families attend the Barons home game on Saturday, February 28 against San Antonio. That night, the Barons will wear one-of-a-kind jerseys available for bids in a live auction following the game. During the last three seasons, the Barons and Special Olympics created memories for over 60 athletes and their families and raised over $80,000 in the process via the team wearing and auctioning one-of-a-kind jerseys.
