Edmonton Oil Kings News Release

EDMONTON, ALTA. - The Edmonton Oil Kings have added forward Tyson Gruninger to the roster for the remainder of the 2014-15 season, general manager Randy Hansch announced Wednesday.

"I'm excited to get things going full time with the organization," Gruninger said. "I learned a lot in my limited time here, and I'm looking forward to continuing that."

Gruninger, a 16-year-old from Drayton Valley, has one goal and one assist in seven games as an affiliated player with the Oil Kings this season. The prospect, who was listed by the Oil Kings last season after going unclaimed in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft, impressed when filling in for injuries and players gone to NHL camps early in the year and later the World Juniors.

"Tyson's results when we called him up speak for themselves," Hansch said. "He seemed to improve each game, and we feel that, where he's at right now, this is a good level to challenge and continue his development.

Gruninger has 12 goals and 12 assists with the Leduc Chrysler Oil Kings Midget AAA squad this season and recorded 30 goals and 54 points in 37 games last season with the Leduc Minor Midget AAA program.

"We also want to thank Randall Weber and the Leduc Chrysler Oil Kings for their cooperation in this process and their development and support of Tyson," Hansch said.
