Toronto Marlies News Release
Last Week
The Toronto Marlies were given a reprieve this past weekend, participating in just two games, after having 3 game sets for the entire month of December. Their opponent this weekend was the San Antonio Rampage, in town for a double header on Friday and Saturday. Toronto would come out of the weekend with three of a possible four points extending their season high point streak to seven games.
Friday would see the Marlies skate away with a hard fought 3-2 win. Matt Frattin continued his strong play scoring two goals while Ryan Rupert would score the game winner midway through the second period. Christopher Gibson shut the door in the third period to seal the victory. The two teams were back in action Saturday and needed overtime to come to settle it. It would be Rocco Grimaldi who would score the decisive goal in the extra frame to give San Antonio the additional point in a 4-3 loss of the Marlies. Ryan Rupert contributed another goal in the effort, while Antoine Bibeau made 31 saves. Connor Brown recorded 4 points over the weekend, adding to his team leading 28 point total and tying Matt Frattin for the team lead in goals with nine. Connor's strong play this season earned him a spot on the 2015 AHL All-Star roster, while also collecting AHL Rookie of the Month honours for December.
