Louisiana IceGators News Release

The Louisiana IceGators organization announced today that they have received in a trade, with the Pensacola Ice Flyers, goalie and former Louisiana IceGator Matt Zenzola. With this trade the IceGators have released goaltender Andrew Flemming.

The 6'5", native of San Diego, California, finished last season with the IceGators with a record of 16-7-1. Matt started this season with the Ontario Reign of the ECHL before recently joining the Pensacola Ice Flyers were he went 1-0-1.

Coach Drew Omicioli is excited about this trade. "Although it was a difficult decision to have to release Andrew Flemming," said Omicioli, "I felt that Zenzola has the experience and leadership to come in and strengthen on our backstop duo. Having played in the league last year and his overall success in the league, I feel that adding him with Marco will add to the competitive nature we are looking for in the goaltending position. I wish Flemming nothing but the best and I feel confident he can move to a team where he has a bigger role and can make a significant impact."

Your IceGators are back in action this Friday and Saturday, January 9th and 10th in a double header against the Pensacola Ice Flyers. Tickets can be purchased by calling 704-4423, the IceGators office at 2448 Johnston Street or the Cajundome Box Office.
